Floor gyms, Baby gyms, activity gyms, the Play mats, play gyms, are these simply different ways to describe the same thing?
The first 4 are all much interchangeable. One producer may prefer single phrase over another, yet there’s nothing for really fit a floor gyms apart from activity gyms. Play mats, anyhow, are something else. It is generally fairly easy for telling a play mat just from play gyms. That told, there are even few manufacturers who, perhaps intentionally, muddy the waters & use play gym for describing what importantly a play mat is & vice versa. What actually is the difference?
Safe place for kids to play
Let’s begin by recognizing that play mats & play gyms both will meet the same need. They give a clean, soft surface, safe for your kid to lie on otherwise play on.
Play mats comes in 2 forms. They are Padded fabric variety & interlocking foam tiles. Many are variations in a theme, but few really stand as unique. But overall, a key choice will be between fabric mats and tiled play area.
The Padded fabric mats
Padded play mat comes in an amazing range of designs like Rectangular, square, circular, oval… even elephant- & giraffe-shaped. Few are small enough for folding up & put into bag. Others are too big kid’s bed covers. Few play mats are just nothing more than the patterned part of a set of cushioned fabric particularly for kid to lie on. And others had strategically placed pads just for support otherwise add-ons for the recreation, exploration & learning.
